Plough and Fleece
A community-owned village freehouse in Horningsea with a garden overlooking fields to the Cam.
The Plough and Fleece is the pub in Horningsea, a village near Cambridge. It is a community-owned freehouse, run by a body called Horningsea Community Interest Company, and the pub's website describes it as a country pub in a delightful village.
The building and the rooms
The pub is a timber-framed public house with two moods. At the front is a formal dining room and at the back a rustic bar with informal eating tables, and both are warmed by an open fire or log burner in winter. In summer the large garden has views over fields towards the river, and both children and dogs are welcome.
Opening times and food
The pub is closed on Mondays. From Tuesday to Thursday it opens from 11:00 to 22:00, on Friday and Saturday from 12:00 to 23:00, and on Sunday from 12:00 to 19:00. On bank holidays it opens from 12:00 to 19:00. The kitchen serves 11:30 to 14:30 and 17:30 to 20:30 on Tuesday to Saturday, and on Sundays it runs from 12:00 to 17:00. Sunday lunch is a roast alongside the full menu, and the menus can be downloaded from the website.
