Salento Marleigh
An Italian caffetteria and pizzeria on Marleigh's Jubilee Square.
Evening tables can be booked from 5pm, but the café does not take lunchtime bookings.
Salento Marleigh calls itself a caffetteria and pizzeria, and its strapline is a little taste of Italy in Marleigh. It sits in Unit 4 of The Hangar on Jubilee Square, the public square of Marleigh, a newly built neighbourhood on the north-eastern edge of Cambridge.
About the venue
The Marleigh branch grew out of an earlier Salento in London's Docklands, where the original pizzeria opened before the owners brought the idea to Cambridge. The kitchen puts its weight on Neapolitan pizza, and there are also classic homemade pasta dishes and panini, with ice cream and Italian hot drinks as part of the café side of the business. Its pizza chef, it says, learned the craft in a family pizzeria near Naples.
Opening and booking
The café opens early, at 7am on Tuesday to Friday, and stays open into the evening. It is closed on Mondays. Evening tables can be reserved from 5pm by phone or through the website, while lunchtime visits are walk-in only. Food can also be ordered for delivery through Deliveroo and Uber.
Practical notes
The website carried a notice in early October saying the café would be closed from Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 October and would reopen on Tuesday 13 October, so it is worth checking the site for short breaks like this. Holiday periods may change the usual hours. Map data records outdoor seating.
