Calverley's is a small-batch brewery tucked just off Mill Road, on Hooper Street. Its website says it was founded by two brothers in 2014, with a plan to brew a wide range of beers inspired by styles from around the world rather than a single house taste.

The taproom

The brewery doubles as a taproom and shop, where you drink in the brewery itself or take beer away. It opens Tuesday to Friday from 17:00 to 22:30 and on Saturdays from 12:00 to 22:30; it is closed Sundays and Mondays. A map listing for the site reports around eleven of its own beers on gravity dispense, plus some guest beers, and level access for wheelchair users.

There is no kitchen. The taproom's page explains that if you are hungry you can order sourdough pizzas from a neighbouring business, Scott's All Day, delivered straight to your table. Gift vouchers and a newsletter sign-up are available through the website.

Practical notes

The taproom is on Hooper Street, postcode CB1 2NZ. The brewery also has a connection to a riverside venue, the Engineers House; its bookings run through a separate website, and its own opening days differ from the taproom's, so check that page before heading out.
