The Old Bicycle Shop is a pub and restaurant at 104 Regent Street. The building is more than two centuries old, and the venue says it has a reputation for fresh local ingredients and sustainable food and drink. It also bills itself as known as the oldest bicycle shop in the country.

The Darwin story

The site repeats a rumour that Charles Darwin bought a bicycle from the shop in the 1800s. The wording is "rumour has it", so treat it as local folklore rather than documented history. The fit-out is described as industrial and quintessentially Cambridge, built to celebrate the heritage of the original shop.

What it serves

The venue is open for brunch, dinner and cocktails, with seasonal food and drink, classic dishes and a Sunday roast. Coffee is fair-trade and organic, and the website mentions homemade flavoured iced teas and sustainably sourced wines. Gift vouchers are sold online.
