Cambridge Framing Centre
A Sussex Street showroom for bespoke picture framing, open seven days a week since 1998.
Cambridge Framing Centre is on Sussex Street in the city centre. It describes itself as established in 1998, and says its showroom holds hundreds of framing samples, so there is plenty to hold up against whatever needs framing.
What they frame
The shop's own list of services runs from bespoke framing of prints, oils, photographs and canvas to conservation framing for more delicate work. Its memorabilia service takes shirts, medals, maps and tapestries, and the website mentions graduation gowns, boxing gloves and drum skins among the things it has mounted. There is also a rack of ready-made frames and a mirror showroom for anyone who wants to leave with something the same day.
How it works
The workshop is not in Cambridge. According to the shop, bespoke jobs are made at its sister site in Norwich, with a weekly delivery and collection, so the Sussex Street staff act as advisers: they talk through the artwork, the room, the level of protection and the budget before ordering. Other services listed include mount cutting, a local hanging service, printing, a remote consultation and local collection and delivery. The shop says some framing solutions can be delivered quickly if you have a deadline to meet.
