The refreshment room in the North Wing of the University Library.

pin_drop Open on map

The Tea Room is the café inside Cambridge University Library, on West Road. The library's own page places it in the North Wing and describes it as a good spot to meet friends and take a break from work.

What it serves

The room serves barista coffee and a daily-changing selection of sandwiches, paninis, snacks and cakes. Food service runs from 9am to 3pm on Monday to Friday and ends at 2pm on Saturday. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own food and drink, and to use the space to socialise or work. Cold drinks and snacks can be bought from a vending machine in the Locker Room.

Opening hours

The Tea Room itself is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 6:30pm, with a later close in full Easter term, and on Saturdays from 9am to 4:20pm. The library publishes the term dates on the University's website.

Eating around the library

The library's rules limit where food can be eaten. It may be consumed only in the Tea Room and in the courtyards, and anything carried through the library should be covered to prevent spills. Lidded drinks and water in no-spill containers are allowed at desks in the open library and in several named reading spaces, but no drinks may be taken into the Special Collections reading rooms.

Practical notes

This is a university library facility, so check the library's visiting pages for who may enter and when.
