Aromi
A Sicilian pizzeria, bakery and gelateria on Bene't Street.
Aromi describes its Bene't Street premises as its original cafe. It sits a few steps from St Bene't's Church and The Eagle. The business presents its food as Sicilian rather than generically Italian, and says everything is made by hand in its own kitchens.
What it serves
The menu centres on sourdough pizza, which is fermented slowly over three days and sold by the slice or, in the evening, as whole pizzas. Alongside come focaccia, arancini, cannoli, pastries and coffee. The gelato is made daily from organic milk and real fruit, and the cafe notes that queues for it are a familiar sight. Customers can watch the pizza makers shape dough through the window.
Other branches
The same group runs a daytime cafe at 30 Fitzroy Street near the Grafton Centre, and a gelato and coffee counter at 3 Peas Hill, linked with a made-to-order pasta kitchen. There is also a cafe in Oxford.
Practical notes
The Bene't Street cafe has seating on two floors and offers evening dining. Whole pizzas are available from 6pm on a walk-in basis, with no booking needed, according to the website. Takeaway, delivery and click-and-collect are also offered.
