Cambridge University Library
The university's main research library, a legal-deposit giant under a brick tower visible across the city.
A west Cambridge road linking Grange Road to Queens' Road, home to the University Library and the concert hall.
West Road runs between Grange Road at its western end and Queens' Road at the other. Immediately to the south lie the Sidgwick Site, a large University of Cambridge complex, and Sidgwick Avenue. The road's own frontage is largely given over to university departments, among them Law, Music, English, and Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic.
The West Road Concert Hall belongs to the Music Faculty. Over on the north side are the Cambridge University Library, tennis courts, and King's College School, the choir school linked with King's College.
Several colleges keep buildings tucked away in courts and hostels reached from West Road. Gonville and Caius College has Harvey Court, King's has Garden Hostel, St Catharine's has St Chad's Court, and Selwyn College has Ann's Court. The museum and faculties of Sidgwick Avenue lie just to the south. Grange Road at the western end leads north to the other colleges and sports grounds, and south towards Barton Road, so West Road works as a short cut into the university's western quarter from the city side.
