Victoria Road
A residential stretch of the A1134 in north Cambridge, joining the Histon and Huntingdon Road junction to Chesterton Road.
In north Cambridge, Victoria Road is a mostly residential street that carries the A1134 designation. At its western end it joins Histon Road, Huntingdon Road, Mount Pleasant and Castle Street at a busy junction. Plans drawn up in 1950 to improve that junction never came to anything.
Where it leads
Going east, the road finishes at Chesterton Road, which carries the A1303, and at Milton Road, the A1134 that turns into the A1309 as it heads north-east out of the city to meet the A14. The junction sits beside Victoria Avenue Bridge, so the road is also a way down towards the river and the centre.
St Luke's Church
St Luke's, a Victorian church, stands on the north side of the road. A Local Ecumenical Partnership brings together two congregations there, the Church of England alongside the United Reformed Church. The premises have been extensively renovated and, besides the church space, offer four rooms that local groups can use.
