Histon Road Cemetery
A Grade II* garden cemetery of 1843 off Histon Road, tied to the landscape designer John Claudius Loudon.
An arterial B1049 road running north from the Victoria Road junction towards the A14 and Impington.
Histon Road is a busy route out of the city to the north, carrying the B1049 number. It starts where Huntingdon Road, Victoria Road, Mount Pleasant and Castle Street meet, and heads towards the A14. Just short of that dual carriageway it changes name to Cambridge Road and carries on into the village of Impington.
A lot of the housing was built in the 1930s; Langham House, a block of flats, shows the style of the decade. Near the southern end, the Histon Road Recreation Ground lies on the west side. Across the road stood Simons House, a retirement home completed in 1977 to a design by Darbourne & Darke. It came down in 2009, and flats for older residents replaced it.
Further north, the Histon Road Allotments lie on the east side, a little south of where King's Hedges Road joins, and Impington Farm is on the west. Beyond the A14 the same B1049 is also called Histon Road between the village of Histon and the village of Cottenham, so the name belongs to the whole route rather than just the city stretch.
The Histon Road Cemetery is a separate place, and Histon itself is a village north of the city.
