Museum of Cambridge
Everyday life in Cambridge and the Fens since 1700, in a Grade II listed 16th-century former inn.
A street in north Cambridge below Castle Hill, home to the Museum of Cambridge and Kettle's Yard.
Castle Street is a street on the northern side of the city centre. Its south-eastern end is a junction shared by Northampton Street, Chesterton Lane (which continues to Chesterton Road) and Magdalene Street. At the north-western end it reaches Mount Pleasant and the roads out of town towards Huntingdon, Histon and Victoria Road.
Castle Hill, the site of Cambridge Castle (see Castle Mound), rises to the north-east, next to St Giles' Church and the Cambridgeshire Shire Hall. Across the road, to the south-west, lie Honey Hill and St Peter's Church. Castle Street Methodist Church also stands beside the street, and so does a public house, the Castle Inn.
Two cultural venues sit here. At the Northampton Street corner is the Museum of Cambridge, which used to be called the Cambridge & County Folk Museum. Kettle's Yard is a former home that is now a modern art gallery.
