Hills Road is an arterial route, part of the A1307, through south-east Cambridge. It starts from the Regent Street end, by the Lensfield Road junction and the A603 at Gonville Place, and finishes at a roundabout beside the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, where it continues as Babraham Road.
On the corner with Lensfield Road stands the church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs. The Cambridge University Botanic Garden lies to the west. Close by, Cambridge War Memorial marks the point where Station Road leaves for the railway station. Further out, on the west side and just north of Long Road, you reach The Perse School, an independent school, while Hills Road Sixth Form College and Homerton College are also on the road. So is the church of St John the Evangelist.
The Biomedical Campus at the south-eastern end holds Addenbrooke's Hospital. That hospital began life on Trumpington Street in the city centre, on the site known as the Old Addenbrooke's Site.
The road has a run of independent places. Maison Clement, a bakery, is at number 28 and Golpo at 36-38, with Little Petra at number 60. Further along are La Maison du Steak, at number 125, and The Earl of Derby, a pub with rooms at 129, on the route between the station and the centre. The Flying Pig, a pub on the road, closed in October 2021.
